Fractional CFO services in Atlanta

Atlanta is the Southeast's dominant tech hub and the US's most active fintech city outside of New York - anchored by a payments and financial infrastructure cluster that traces back to the founding of First Data, NCR, Global Payments and Fiserv's Atlanta operations.

The city has produced Calendly, Salesloft, Greenlight, OneTrust and Stord at scale, and Mailchimp's $12B acquisition by Intuit in 2021 remains the largest startup exit in Southeast history. Annual venture deployment has exceeded $3B in recent years, concentrated in Midtown's Tech Square and the Georgia Tech corridor.

We work with Atlanta-based startups from seed to Series B+, supporting them on KPI tracking, unit economics, FP&A, board packs, fundraise prep and cap table management.

Atlanta startup ecosystem

What makes Atlanta's startup ecosystem distinct - sector concentrations, the Tech Square cluster and the talent pipeline that feeds the city's venture scene.

The US's largest payments and fintech infrastructure cluster outside NYC

Atlanta processes more payment transactions than any city except New York - home to NCR Voyix, Global Payments, Fiserv Atlanta and hundreds of payments-infrastructure companies. Greenlight (family fintech) and Kabbage (SMB lending, acquired by American Express) both built from Atlanta, and the city's payments alumni network is unusually active in backing the next generation.

B2B SaaS and supply-chain tech are the dominant growth verticals

Calendly (scheduling), Salesloft (revenue intelligence), OneTrust (privacy compliance) and Stord (supply chain) have all reached unicorn or near-unicorn status from Atlanta. The city's proximity to UPS, Home Depot and the largest trucking corridors in the Southeast creates a natural market for logistics-tech and supply-chain SaaS founders.

Tech Square and Midtown anchor the startup cluster

Tech Square at Georgia Tech - bounded by 5th Street and Spring Street NW in Midtown - is the densest innovation district in the Southeast. The Atlanta Tech Village (Buckhead) is the city's largest private accelerator campus. Midtown broadly houses the city's SaaS, cybersecurity and health IT companies within walking distance of Georgia Tech's engineering school.

Georgia Tech and corporate-alumni talent pipeline

Georgia Tech produces more engineering graduates placed into startups than any school south of MIT. Emory University feeds the city's health IT and biotech companies. The Fortune 500 corporate base - Delta, UPS, Coca-Cola, Home Depot - provides an unusually deep secondary pipeline of senior operations, supply-chain and finance talent that typically costs 20–30% less than comparable hires in New York or San Francisco.

Accelerators and angel networks active in Atlanta

Atlanta's accelerator landscape is anchored by Georgia Tech and Atlanta Tech Village, with strong corporate innovation programmes from the city's Fortune 500 base. These are the most active programmes for venture-backed founders at pre-seed and seed.

ATDC (Advanced Technology Development Center)

ATDC is Georgia Tech's startup incubator and the oldest technology incubator in the US, founded in 1980. Provides equity-free acceleration, mentorship and office space in Tech Square to technology companies with ties to Georgia. Portfolio has generated over $5B in economic impact. Alumni include Cardlytics, Ionic Security and Pindrop.

Atlanta Tech Village

Atlanta Tech Village is the Southeast's largest private startup campus - 103,000 sq ft in Buckhead housing 300+ companies. Runs a structured accelerator programme and provides mentorship, co-working and a dense network of Atlanta's most active angel investors and early-stage VCs.

Engage Ventures

Engage Ventures is a corporate accelerator backed by Atlanta's Fortune 500 companies (Cox Enterprises, Delta, NCR, UPS and others). Runs a 12-week programme with paid proof-of-concept contracts with corporate partners. Strong in fintech, supply chain and enterprise SaaS - with direct access to enterprise pilots that most accelerators cannot offer.

Techstars Atlanta

Techstars Atlanta is the Atlanta cohort of the global Techstars network, operating in partnership with Cox Enterprises. Sector-agnostic with a strong B2B SaaS and media-tech track record reflecting Cox's media and communications portfolio. Standard $120k investment with a 13-week mentor-led programme.

Valor Ventures

Valor Ventures is Atlanta's most active seed-stage fund, writing $500k–$1.5M initial checks into B2B SaaS companies in the Southeast. Runs structured founder support alongside its fund. Portfolio includes LeaseQuery, Terminus and Greenlight. One of the few Southeast seed funds with an active LP base of Midwest and East Coast institutional investors.

BIP Capital

BIP Capital is Atlanta-headquartered and one of the Southeast's most active early-stage venture funds, investing $250k–$3M into SaaS, fintech and health IT companies. Portfolio includes Salesloft, ParkMobile and SnapNurse. Runs structured portfolio support and co-invests regularly with top-tier national funds.

Atlanta startup accountants vs Flow fractional CFO

Most Atlanta startups work with a CPA firm for federal and Georgia state tax, payroll and audit. That role is essential - but it is not the same as having a fractional CFO.

Atlanta startup accountants

Federal and Georgia state tax, payroll, audit and R&D tax credits. The firms most used by Atlanta venture-backed startups.

  • Aprio

Atlanta-headquartered and ranked #24 nationally. Broad technology and venture-backed company practice with strong R&D tax credit, M&A advisory and SBIR grant accounting capabilities for growth-stage companies.

  • Frazier & Deeter

Atlanta-based and ranked #41 nationally ($184M revenue). Deep expertise serving founder-led and PE-backed companies, with a strong M&A due-diligence and deal-support practice widely used by Atlanta's SaaS and fintech founders.

  • Bennett Thrasher

Ranked #62 nationally and Atlanta's largest fully locally-owned CPA firm. Founded in 1980, with a strong technology, real estate and private equity practice serving companies from Series A through exit.

  • BDO Atlanta

Top-six US firm with an active Atlanta office. Strong life-sciences and technology audit practice covering Series B companies through public company readiness, with M&A and transaction advisory services.

  • Smith Adcock

Atlanta-based boutique with a growing startup and emerging-growth practice, serving early-stage technology companies through seed and Series A with tax, audit and advisory services at competitive mid-market pricing.

Flow fractional CFO

Financial modelling, FP&A and fundraise prep. We work alongside your accountant - not instead of them.

  • Builds the financial model - revenue assumptions, headcount, unit economics, runway.
  • Sets up the monthly FP&A cycle: budget, forecast vs actual, variance analysis.
  • Puts together the monthly board pack - P&L, cash, KPIs and forward outlook.
  • Prepares the fundraise: investor model, deck financials, data room and diligence prep.
  • Keeps the cap table tidy and handles stock option grants and 409A valuations.
  • Reports on the KPIs that move the business - ARR, gross margin, CAC payback, retention.
  • Pressure tests hiring, pricing and big spend decisions against the model before the founder commits.
  • Sits in board meetings and is embedded week-to-week, not just engaged annually for compliance.

Simple pricing

No hidden costs, no complicated long-term contracts. We understand how important flexibility is for Atlanta startups.
