Fractional CFO services in Monterrey

Monterrey is Mexico's industrial capital and the country's fastest-growing tech hub outside Mexico City.

The city combines a century-old manufacturing base - home to FEMSA, CEMEX, ALFA and Arca Continental - with Tecnológico de Monterrey, Latin America's highest-ranked private university, to produce a founder profile uniquely focused on industrial SaaS, logistics-tech and enterprise software. NowPorts, which raised a $150M Series C in 2022 to become Mexico's first logistics unicorn, was founded and initially scaled from Monterrey.

We work with Monterrey-based startups from seed to Series B+, supporting them on financial modelling, runway management, board packs, fundraise prep, KPI tracking and pricing decisions.

Monterrey startup ecosystem

What makes Monterrey's startup ecosystem distinct - industrial roots, university pipeline, innovation districts and the investor base that backs the city's founders.

Mexico's industrial-tech capital

Monterrey contributes approximately 25% of Mexico's industrial GDP and anchors the northern nearshoring corridor that absorbed significant US manufacturing reshoring after 2022. FEMSA, CEMEX and ALFA all run active corporate venture and startup programme arms in the city - creating an unusually accessible B2B pilot market for industrial SaaS and supply-chain tech founders.

Industrial SaaS, logistics and enterprise software

NowPorts (logistics unicorn, $150M Series C) and Sofía (health insurance SaaS) are the city's most prominent venture-backed exits. The strongest verticals are supply-chain optimisation, fleet management, industrial IoT, B2B payments and HR-tech for manufacturing workforces. Enterprise software targeting the nearshoring-driven industrial base is the highest-conviction sector among local investors.

Tec area, Valle Oriente and San Pedro Garza García

The Tecnológico de Monterrey campus and the surrounding Tec area form the startup and accelerator core - Distrito Tec and the Eduardo Garza T. Fernández Innovation Hub are the main co-working and incubation centres. Valle Oriente is the corporate-tech office belt, housing the regional HQs of Deloitte, KPMG and major multinational tech firms. San Pedro Garza García is the family-office and wealth-management hub - the most direct route to Monterrey's angel and early-stage capital.

Tec de Monterrey engineering and business pipeline

Tecnológico de Monterrey produces over 10,000 STEM graduates annually across its Monterrey campus - the deepest engineering and business talent pipeline in northern Mexico. The university's INCmty accelerator is one of Latin America's largest startup competitions by applicant volume. A large cohort of former FEMSA, CEMEX and GE Mexico executives provides the senior operations and finance talent that pre-Series A founders need to hire.

Accelerators and angel networks active in Monterrey

Monterrey's accelerator ecosystem is anchored by Tecnológico de Monterrey and the industrial conglomerates that have built their own innovation programmes. These are the most active platforms for venture-backed founders at early stage.

INCmty - Tecnológico de Monterrey

INCmty is Latin America's largest annual startup competition and entrepreneurship festival, run by Tecnológico de Monterrey. Hosts 50,000+ attendees annually, connects founders with investors, corporates and mentors across Mexico and Latin America. The Tec de Monterrey startup incubation programme runs year-round with seed grants and mentorship.

Distrito Tec

Distrito Tec is the urban innovation district surrounding the Tec de Monterrey campus - a 100-block area designated as a smart-city innovation zone by the Monterrey municipality. Houses accelerators, co-working facilities, labs and startup offices. Acts as the physical hub for the Monterrey startup community.

Orion Startups

Orion Startups is a Monterrey-based accelerator focused on pre-seed and seed companies in industrial SaaS, logistics-tech and enterprise software. Provides mentorship, co-working space and connections to Monterrey's industrial corporate network. One of the few Monterrey-native accelerators with a consistent deal-flow pipeline.

FEMSA Lab

FEMSA Lab is the corporate innovation arm of FEMSA, Latin America's largest Coca-Cola bottler and the parent of OXXO and FEMSA Logística. Runs pilot and investment programmes for startups addressing retail, logistics and supply-chain challenges - giving Monterrey founders direct access to one of Latin America's largest B2B commercial networks.

Startup Mexico - Monterrey node

Startup Mexico is Mexico's largest accelerator network with a Monterrey co-working and programme node. The national network connects Monterrey-based founders to Mexico City VC relationships, cross-city mentor networks and the broader Startup Mexico corporate partner ecosystem - useful for founders ready to expand beyond the Monterrey industrial market.

Monterrey startup accountants vs Flow fractional CFO

Most Monterrey startups work with a local contaduría firm for SAT compliance, IMSS filings and annual tax returns. That work is essential - but it is not the same as having a fractional CFO.

Monterrey startup accountants

SAT tax compliance, IMSS/INFONAVIT payroll, CFDI invoicing and annual audit. The firms most used by Monterrey venture-backed startups.

  • Mancera (EY México - Monterrey)

EY's Mexico practice, operating under the Mancera brand, has a strong Monterrey office covering audit, tax and transaction advisory for industrial and tech-sector companies at growth and pre-IPO stage.

  • KPMG Monterrey

KPMG's Monterrey office has a dedicated technology and industrial-sector practice covering IFRS audit, transfer pricing and corporate restructuring - relevant for founders raising from US institutional investors.

  • Crowe México - Monterrey

Mid-market firm with Monterrey presence covering SAT compliance, IMSS payroll filings and early-stage equity structuring. Frequently engaged by Tec de Monterrey spin-outs at their first seed round.

  • BDO Monterrey

BDO's Monterrey office covers audit, tax advisory and transaction support. Increasingly active with industrial SaaS and nearshoring-adjacent tech companies raising Series A and beyond.

  • Galaz, Yamazaki, Ruiz Urquiza (Deloitte MX - Monterrey)

Deloitte's Monterrey team covers the full audit and advisory scope for the region's large industrial client base. Startup engagements tend to begin at Series B when international audit standards become a fundraising requirement.

Flow fractional CFO

Financial modelling, FP&A and fundraise prep. We work alongside your accountant - not instead of them.

  • Builds the financial model - revenue assumptions, headcount, unit economics, runway.
  • Sets up the monthly FP&A cycle: budget, forecast vs actual, variance analysis.
  • Puts together the monthly board pack - P&L, cash, KPIs and forward outlook.
  • Prepares the fundraise: investor model, deck financials, data room and diligence prep.
  • Keeps the cap table tidy and handles stock option grants and 409A-equivalent valuations.
  • Reports on the KPIs that move the business - ARR, gross margin, CAC payback, retention.
  • Pressure tests hiring, pricing and big spend decisions against the model before the founder commits.
  • Sits in board meetings and is embedded week-to-week, not just engaged annually for compliance.

Simple pricing

No hidden costs, no complicated long-term contracts. We understand how important flexibility is for Monterrey startups.
