Fractional CFO services in São Paulo

São Paulo is Latin America's uncontested startup capital - home to 46% of Brazil's startups, 13 unicorns, and the continent's deepest pool of institutional venture capital.

Nubank ($45B+ market cap), Stone (NASDAQ-listed), Loft ($2.9B), Gympass/Wellhub, C6 Bank, QuintoAndar, Creditas and Hotmart were all founded or headquartered here. Brazil attracted US$2B in startup investment in 2025, with São Paulo capturing the majority of that through Kaszek, monashees, Valor Capital, Astella, Canary, Headline LatAm and Maya Capital.

We work with São Paulo-based startups from seed to Series B+, supporting them on board packs, FP&A, cap table management, fundraise prep, investor reporting and runway management.

São Paulo startup ecosystem

What makes São Paulo's startup ecosystem distinct - fintech depth, unicorn density, innovation corridors and the talent pipeline that feeds Latin America's largest venture market.

Latin America's unicorn factory

São Paulo has produced more billion-dollar companies than the rest of Latin America combined. Nubank (world's largest neobank by customer count), Stone (payments, NASDAQ), Loft (proptech), Gympass/Wellhub (corporate wellness), C6 Bank, QuintoAndar, Creditas, VTEX (NYSE) and Hotmart are all headquartered or scaled from the city. Brazil's 17% increase in venture investment in 2024 was driven almost entirely by São Paulo-based deals.

Fintech, enterprise SaaS and proptech dominate

Fintech commands the largest share of São Paulo venture dollars - digital banking (Nubank, C6 Bank, Neon), payments (Stone, PagSeguro), B2B credit (Creditas, Monkey Exchange), embedded finance (EBANX) and insurance-tech (Pier, Kakau) are all active verticals. Enterprise SaaS (Omie, ContaAzul, TOTVS) and proptech (Loft, QuintoAndar, Credihome) represent the next tier. Consumer marketplace (iFood, Enjoei, GetNinjas) rounds out the sector map.

Faria Lima axis, Vila Olímpia and Pinheiros

The Faria Lima corridor is the VC and fintech core - Kaszek, monashees, Canary, Astella and Headline LatAm all have offices along or near Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima. Cubo Itaú, the largest startup hub in Latin America with 100+ resident companies, anchors the Vila Olímpia and Itaim Bibi cluster. Pinheiros is the dense early-stage and product-company neighbourhood, concentrated around Rua Augusta and the Consolação axis.

USP, FGV and the investment-banking talent pipeline

Universidade de São Paulo (USP) - Brazil's highest-ranked university - supplies the deep engineering and computer science pipeline. FGV São Paulo feeds economics, finance and MBA talent directly into the startup ecosystem. A dense base of former BTG Pactual, Itaú BBA, McKinsey and Bain professionals provides the senior finance and operating talent that São Paulo startups draw on as they scale through Series A and beyond.

Accelerators and angel networks active in São Paulo

São Paulo has the deepest and most institutionalised accelerator and innovation ecosystem in Latin America. These are the programmes and hubs most active with venture-backed founders at early stage.

Cubo Itaú

Cubo Itaú is the largest startup hub in Latin America, founded by Itaú Unibanco and Redpoint eventures in 2015. Houses 100+ resident startups and provides access to Itaú's corporate client network, investor community and talent pipeline. Resident companies receive co-working space, mentorship and direct access to Itaú's financial infrastructure APIs.

ACE Cortex

ACE Cortex is Brazil's largest independent venture accelerator, running programmes across pre-seed, seed and Series A. Has invested in 400+ Brazilian startups since 2012. Strong track record in B2B SaaS, fintech and marketplace. The ACE network is one of the most connected angel-to-institutional bridges in São Paulo.

InovaBra Habitat (Bradesco)

InovaBra Habitat is Bradesco's innovation hub and accelerator, located in São Paulo's Cidade de Deus campus. Runs open innovation programmes and accelerates fintech, insurtech and enterprise SaaS startups with access to Bradesco's distribution network, APIs and pilot-customer pipeline. One of the most active bank-backed accelerator programmes in Latin America.

Endeavor Brasil

Endeavor Brasil is the Brazil chapter of the global Endeavor network - the most prestigious scale-up support organisation for growth-stage Brazilian founders. Selection as an Endeavor entrepreneur provides access to a global network of 3,000+ mentors, investors and corporate partners. Portfolio includes iFood, Gympass, Locaweb and TOTVS.

Distrito

Distrito is São Paulo's leading startup intelligence and innovation platform - combining a co-working hub, corporate innovation services and Brazil's most comprehensive startup database. Used by founders for investor intelligence, peer benchmarking and access to the Distrito corporate partnership programme. The Distrito data platform is the standard reference for Brazilian startup ecosystem metrics.

Wayra Brasil

Wayra Brasil is Telefónica Vivo's corporate accelerator in São Paulo. Invests BRL 100k–500k in early-stage startups and provides access to Vivo's 100M+ customer base for pilot programmes. Focus areas include 5G applications, IoT, enterprise SaaS and digital inclusion - aligned with Vivo's network investment roadmap.

São Paulo startup accountants vs Flow fractional CFO

Most São Paulo startups work with a contabilidade firm for SPED filings, IRPJ/CSLL tax, folha de pagamento and nota fiscal. That is legally required - but it is not the same as having a fractional CFO.

São Paulo startup accountants

Brazilian tax compliance (Simples/LP/LR), SPED, Receita Federal filings, folha de pagamento and statutory audit. The firms most used by São Paulo venture-backed startups.

  • PwC Brasil - Growth & Emerging Companies

PwC Brasil's dedicated growth-companies practice covers IFRS audit, R&D tax incentives under Lei do Bem, and structuring for Cayman or Delaware holding vehicles required by institutional investors. One of the most active Big Four practices in the São Paulo VC-backed startup segment.

  • Domingues e Pinho Contadores (DPC)

São Paulo-headquartered boutique firm specialising in accounting and tax compliance for startups, scale-ups and venture-backed companies. Covers Simples Nacional, Lucro Presumido, Lucro Real transitions and SPED filings. One of the most referenced startup-focused contabilidades in the city.

  • Mazars Brasil

International mid-tier firm with a strong São Paulo practice covering audit, tax and advisory for growth-stage companies. Frequently engaged by startups with European investors who require internationally comparable audit standards.

  • BDO RCS

BDO's Brazil member firm with a dedicated technology and innovation sector practice in São Paulo. Covers audit, IRPJ/CSLL compliance and transaction advisory for Series A and beyond. Strong track record in tech-sector M&A diligence.

  • Grant Thornton Brasil

Mid-market firm with a growing startup and VC-backed company advisory practice in São Paulo. Covers statutory audit, tax optimisation between Simples/LP/LR regimes and employee equity structuring - increasingly relevant as São Paulo startups implement option pools ahead of Series A.

Flow fractional CFO

Financial modelling, FP&A and fundraise prep. We work alongside your accountant - not instead of them.

  • Builds the financial model - revenue assumptions, headcount, unit economics, runway.
  • Sets up the monthly FP&A cycle: budget, forecast vs actual, variance analysis.
  • Puts together the monthly board pack - P&L, cash, KPIs and forward outlook.
  • Prepares the fundraise: investor model, deck financials, data room and diligence prep.
  • Keeps the cap table tidy and handles stock option grants and Cayman/Delaware holding structure coordination.
  • Reports on the KPIs that move the business - ARR, gross margin, CAC payback, retention.
  • Pressure tests hiring, pricing and big spend decisions against the model before the founder commits.
  • Sits in board meetings and is embedded week-to-week, not just engaged annually for compliance.

No hidden costs, no complicated long-term contracts. We understand how important flexibility is for São Paulo startups.
